Beijing Capital Airport to the City: Airport Express, Bus and Taxi

Get from Beijing Capital Airport to your hotel by Capital Airport Express, bus or car, with terminal checks and late-arrival alternatives.

IN THIS GUIDE

Beijing Capital International Airport is PEK / 北京首都国际机场. Its Capital Airport Express serves the T2 and T3 transport facilities and connects with urban rail at useful interchanges including Sanyuanqiao and Dongzhimen. Choose the onward route using your hotel's exact address, or compare a direct licensed taxi or confirmed car booking.

Capital is a different airport from Beijing Daxing (PKX). Confirm the airport and actual arrival terminal before using a route or meeting instruction.

OptionUseful forWhat to check
Capital Airport Express plus metroA hotel near a convenient urban-rail connectionTerminal access, current interchange, final walk and operating hours
Airport busA currently operating line near your accommodationCorrect terminal stop, city stop and onward travel
Licensed taxiA direct hotel journey without app setupMarked queue, fare basis, payment and luggage space
App car or arranged transferA working account or a confirmed meeting arrangementExact terminal pickup and vehicle details

Compare the whole journey for your group. A rail fare and a taxi quote cover different parts of the journey if the hotel is still far from the rail stop.

Find ground transport from your arrival terminal

Complete immigration, baggage and customs as applicable, then follow the terminal's public-arrivals signs. In a large terminal, the time between leaving the aircraft and reaching a rail platform or driver can be substantial.

Save the hotel name, address and phone number in Chinese. Check its late-check-in arrangement and tell the hotel if the flight is delayed. A booking reference and a familiar English hotel name may not identify the correct branch on their own.

Do not assume your arrival terminal from the airline's usual pattern. Use the flight's current information and the airport's actual signs.

Taking the Capital Airport Express

Ask Buddy ↗

Look for 首都机场线 or Capital Airport Express. Use the service associated with Capital Airport, not a route to Daxing.

Match the airport train with the most useful city-side connection. Sanyuanqiao / 三元桥 and Dongzhimen / 东直门 are useful reference points on the urban side; consult the current network map for the complete route, interchange and direction that fit your hotel.

At the city connection, check the remaining metro service and the final station exit. Allow for walking with bags between services. Do not infer that airport-rail operating hours guarantee the last connecting metro is available.

Follow the airport line's current ticket and payment instructions, including any separate fare. If your overseas card or phone code does not work, ask at the operating service counter for a supported option.

Airport buses

Ask Buddy ↗

Look up the actual airport-bus line and listed stops, not simply “downtown bus”. Routes can serve different railway stations or city districts, with different operating arrangements.

Confirm the stop in Chinese, where the bus departs at your terminal, and whether your hotel is walkable from the city stop. Ask about the current departure and payment process before buying.

Night services and temporary extensions can be date-specific. Do not use a holiday news announcement as a permanent all-night timetable. Check the airport or service counter for your arrival date.

Licensed taxi and app pickup

Ask Buddy ↗

Follow the terminal's marked licensed taxi route or the meeting point in your confirmed booking. Do not use a random curbside pin or enter a car solely because someone offers a ride in arrivals.

Show the complete hotel address and confirm the fare basis and payment. Traffic, tolls and waiting can affect the final trip cost; check the current official information or booking terms instead of treating an online estimate as a fixed fare.

For an app car, select the actual terminal and pickup zone, follow the walking instructions and match the registration. Airport taxis and app cars may load in different areas.

Useful phrase: 我要去这家酒店,请按这个中文地址走。 — “I am going to this hotel; please use this Chinese address.”

Arriving late or without data

Ask Buddy ↗

Use the time you can reach the transport departure point, not the aircraft's scheduled landing, when checking the final service. If rail is no longer useful, ask airport staff about a currently operating bus or licensed taxi option.

If mobile data fails, keep the hotel address and payment backup available offline. Look for an airport information or Beijing Service desk that is currently staffed; do not make a particular counter's availability your only plan.

Transferring to Daxing or a railway station

Ask Buddy ↗

Treat a PEK–PKX journey as a transfer between separate airports. Include the road or rail connections, baggage and the next airline's deadlines; do not assume an airside connection or automatic baggage transfer.

For a train, confirm the exact departure station on the issued ticket. Beijing, Beijing South, Beijing West and other stations are different destinations. Use a live route to that station's appropriate entrance and retain time for railway checks.
