Chengdu Tianfu Airport to the City: Metro Lines 18 and 19, Bus or Taxi

At Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU), choose your connection from the hotel's actual address and the next usable departure. Metro Line 18 serves the South Railway Station / 火车南站 corridor; Line 19 serves a different corridor, including 双流机场2航站楼东 near Shuangliu Airport. Check the line and stopping pattern of the next train before boarding.

Tianfu is 成都天府国际机场, code TFU. Shuangliu is 成都双流国际机场, code CTU. They are separate airports. A confirmation saying only “Chengdu airport pickup” is incomplete: give the driver the code, terminal and flight number.

Save the hotel branch's full Chinese name, address and telephone number. A hotel marketed for “Chengdu Airport” may be near the other airport and unsuitable for a quick overnight stop at TFU.

Keep the expected arrival time flexible until you have cleared entry procedures, collected baggage and reached landside transport. The train's advertised running time is only one part of the journey to your room.

Follow 地铁 / Metro and transport-centre signs to 天府机场1号2号航站楼 (Tianfu Airport Terminal 1 & 2). Do not select 天府机场北 merely because its English name also contains “airport”; it is a different stop.

Lines 18 and 19 use the airport corridor. Look at the next train's line number and destination, and check whether it stops where you need to change. A train arriving at the platform is not necessarily the line you intended to take.

For a hotel reached through 火车南站, check a Line 18 service toward that station and the onward metro route. Some services have different stopping patterns, so ask before boarding if you need an intermediate stop.

Do not confuse the South Railway Station interchange with Chengdu East / 成都东站, a different railway hub. If you have an onward train, use the station name printed in that booking and plan the entire transfer, including station entry checks.

At the airport platform you can show 请问下一班是十八号线吗？停火车南站吗？ — “Is the next train Line 18? Does it stop at South Railway Station?” If going elsewhere, show the actual station name instead.

The official Shuangliu Airport transport page lists Line 19 linking 双流机场2航站楼东 with the Tianfu airport corridor. It can be useful for a hotel along that route or an airport change, but it is not interchangeable with Line 18.

For a TFU–CTU flight connection, add the walks at both airports, the correct terminal, check-in or bag-drop requirements and security. Confirm any baggage transfer arrangement with the airline; do not assume luggage follows you between airports.

Ask staff whether the next service reaches your intended stop directly or requires a change. On a return trip toward Tianfu, likewise confirm the train reaches the terminal station rather than ending earlier.

An airport bus may suit a hotel near one of its current city stops. Before buying, ask the staffed sales point for the destination, operating hours, fare, expected departure and luggage arrangements. Then check how you will get from the city stop to your hotel.

Do not treat an old list of bus routes or “24-hour” publicity as a promise of a bus immediately available to every district. The useful question is whether the service operating now gets you close enough to the actual address.

For multiple bags, limited mobility or a late arrival, compare the licensed taxi queue with a confirmed app pickup. Follow the airport signs for the actual terminal and pickup zone. Show the Chinese address, retain the receipt or order, and check the plate on an app booking.

A road journey can be affected by traffic, and a quoted estimate is not a fixed arrival guarantee. Confirm capacity for people and luggage, plus any child restraint or mobility requirement, before relying on the vehicle.

If data fails or the complete metro connection has ended, ask airport staff for a usable road option. Keep payment backups accessible and notify the hotel of the revised arrival. You can show 请带我去正规出租车候车区。 — “Please direct me to the licensed taxi queue.”
